The Knoxville Pipes and Drums in the Rossini Festival and Dogwood Arts Parade, April 2002

The Scottish bagpipe tune Green Hills of Tyrol is based on Gioacchino Rossini's (1792 - 1868) final opera Guillaume Tell, staged in Paris in 1829. The Knoxville Opera Society asked the band to perform at their Rossini Festival as part of the Dogwood Arts Celebration.

Later in the afternoon the band participated in the annual Dogwood Arts Parade through downtown Knoxville with the Scottish Society of Knoxville riding in one of the famous Gatlinburg Trolleys and advertising the Gatlinburg Scottish Festival and Games which is supported by the Scottish Society.
